The Bunyip is an Australian folklore that kinda came out of nowhere. The origins are completely unknown and I haven't found any theories. Kinda weird that it became so popular.
But what is a Bunyip? Most people agree that the Bunyip has a round head, elongated neck, and a body that either looks like an ox, hippo, or manatee. Cause apparently those things look similar. It

is said to reside in swamps and lagoons in inland Australia. Bunyips also eat humans. Apparently they favor women and children.
It is mostly known for the sounds that it makes. It is said to make a loud, booming, roaring noise. In the 1930s a group of railroad workers heard a terrifying sound coming from a nearby swamp. Most thought it was a bunyip and scaddled. It wasn't heard again until the 1960s when a "bull-like roar was often heard echoing around the swamp." Some locals even said it shook bottles. This particularly Bunyip was called the Burrawang Bunyip.
In 1974 the swamp where the noise was coming from was dammed. The noise suddenly stopped. This led to theories that the noise was just something to do with where the swamp was dammed.
The Bunyip can be found underneath the Murray Bridge for the cost a coin. You can hear the famous Bunyip roar and have nightmares for weeks!

What has time done to you???
